Forested Pork
We love our pigs and the amazing service they offer our land. Pigs are mono-gastric animals, so unlike our cattle who as ruminants, get all the nutrition they need from grass and forages, pigs need a complete protein. In addition to foraging for acorns in the fall, eating the lush bounty of greens in the spring and summer, and eating the stockpiled forages and mast in the winter; we supplement our pigs with a ration of organic, locally grown barley, field peas, alfalfa and wheat. We do not feed any corn or soy to our pigs sold on farm. We never use any dewormers or pharmaceuticals on our pigs. We meet all organic standards and beyond for how we raise our pigs.
